At the sale you can get to check out a large variety of traditional Gujarat art and craft. For instance the exquisite embroidered handlooms from Kutch and Banki made by tribal women as well as some good traditional jewellery. On display are appliqué work done by Kutch craftsmen, embroidery works, wall hangings, cushion covers, tie-and-dye on fabrics like cotton, silk sarees, dupattas dress materials from Jamnagar and Bhuj Mandi of Kutch district. Beadwork torans, wall hangings from Saurastra, metal engraving on aluminium and brass sheet metals from Ahmedabad Rajkot and Meshana districts are also available for sale. The products range from jewellery boxes, photo frames, service trays, key chain stand and functional items like jute chairs and jute sofa sets. Bright and colourfully printed running fabrics are also available from Gujarat.
The exhibition has on offer a wide range of authentic handloom and handicraft products such as bandhini or tie-and-dye made from Saurashtra and Kutch, embroidered cholis and ghagras, chaklas, wall hangings, pillow covers and quilts. Other attractions include leatherwork on cushion covers, bags, puppets, bead-worked jewellery, articles in terracotta, batik dress materials and woodcarvings. There are many stalls with a variety of jewellery, semi precious, silver and plain beads. There is also jute jewellery as well as figurines made with terracotta. An interesting stall belongs to brothers Chinni and Chandru who are displaying their readymade Rangolis! These are made from fiber sheets and embellished with colourful kundan stones and are available in myriad designs and cost from Rs 250 to Rs 350.
Bedsheets with kutch work, channi prints, kanta work and appliqué work are also something new. And for the winter season there is a new variety of a top and stole made from silk woolen fabric is a fresh attraction here. Kora colour grass products like mats and boxes are again available in several shades. Channapatna toys and wood inlay work from Karnataka, Pochampally sarees and Dhurries and Carpets from Andhra Pradesh, Lucknow Chikan sarees and dress materials and even Chikan bed sheets are some of the other stalls. Bangles from Rajasthan, Oriya Cotton Sarres, Benaras Silk Sarres and Brass Artefacts are also on display. The sale is on till November 25 at Safina Plaza, No 84/85, Infantry Road, Bangalore. Timings are from 10 am to 9 pm.
