Entertainment on autopilot

Autopilot — Killing the Stereotype (Part II) is an alternative event involving light, video, photography and sound sets being held at Le Meridian on November 18 (Sunday) from 7 pm to 11.30 pm.

Autopilot is an expression coined by Kashyap Murali. The term symbolises the 'pilot' (artiste) taking his or her passengers (audience) on a journey/trip though a traditional 'auto' rickshaw.

Creative revolution
Autopilot is a creative revolution — a canvas created to showcase fresh innovative talent. Its objective is to view and conceptualise art in striking new perspectives.

The event will engage audiences from diverse backgrounds united by a common eagerness to experience art and its culture alternatively.

Autopilot is making a comeback after two years. Killing the Stereotype (Revenge of the Sonic Sadhus) hopes to bring collective experiences of the artistes in the form of interactive light, sound and visual sets. It is transformation of a traditional art or club event through collaborations between a VDJ (Visual Disc jockey), light artiste, sound artiste and Photographers - elevating this episode of autopilot to a new level. There are comparable shows ruling niche night clubs in London, Paris and Brazil.

The content
The Visual sets incorporates  one Video DJ and three art photographers who will mix their visual elements with the Sound set.  The VDJ and Photography material will be projected on two separate screens. The Light artiste will choreograph his set to further enhance this audio-visual journey. The Autopilot sound sets are known to stir audiences through various genres of international electronica.

The Video DJ, Peter Rajesh Joachim is a specialist in digital post production and cinematography. Peter's innate editing skills have won him 'Best Edited music video' at the South zone level - a competition conducted by Apple and Audio Media Education.

The light artiste, Pritham Kumar is a theatre personality, known in Bangalore for his expertise with lighting.
Pritham has done innumerable shows within the country. Work which recently took him to China is now taking him to Germany. His new forms of experiments include neon and interactive light installations.

The  photographers
Sameer Mohan, one of the three contributing photographers, is an contemporary art photographer is a postgraduate from the University Of Sunderland, UK. He is currently working on a coffee table book for Australia's cricket captain Ricky Ponting.

Neha Bajaj is a postgraduate from Light and Life Academy, Ooty. Currently the Visual Editor of Virgin Comics, Neha has released several coffee table books such as South Indies and Bengalooru 24/7.
Zui Patravali has assisted leading photographers such as Israr Qureshi and Dominic Hsieh (Australian Fashion and People photographer). Zui recently spent three months in Oman, where she further explored and experimented with photography.

Kashyap Murali has a Masters Degree in Graphic Design (UCCA, Kent UK). He researched and rebuilt autopilot, whilst further experimenting with his sound sets.

The concept is his brainchild and has been travelling with him overseas. After London, he moved to Mumbai, where he is a consultant for the On-Air graphics team at Channel [V].

The immense success of the first autopilot at Insomnia and autopilot 2 at I Bar proved the potential of such an endeavour, with a turnout of over 500 pilots. Autopilot music and visual performances have taken off in spaces such as The Leela Palace, Cosmo Village, Aura, The Park and Le Meridian.
