Five get life sentence for abduction
Bangalore, dhns:
Five kidnappers, who had abducted a building contractor and kept him hostage for two days, were given life sentences by a fast track court recently

Two of these criminals are still absconding, and the hunt for them is on.

Taking a serious note of the case, the Fast Track Court-3 of S Y Eranna awarded life term to all the five under section 364 (A) of the IPC for abducting the contractor. The criminals were given 7 years, 3 years, 2 years and one years’ rigorous imprisonment in other sections of the IPC. All the punishment would go simultaneously. Along with it, the court imposed a fine of Rs 11,500 on each criminal.

Building contractor S Damodar was abducted on June 23, 2004. Damodar was made to ask his family to send money, a four-wheeler, a cheque book and a pass book.

Alarmed by the phone call, Damodar’s family arranged for money and also informed police. When one of the kidnappers arrived to collect the money, police nabbed him.

The police then reached Kallahalli and freed the hostage. They arrested five persons. Two of the kidnappers are still at large.
