The whiff of chocolate blending in with the aroma of coffee is inviting for anyone walking past Donut Baker to step in for a quick bite. Situated bang in the centre of the bustling Brigade Road, this tiny doughnut joint is a pit-stop that won’t leave you disappointed.
Not just that, it will change the way doughnut is perceived to be here. In the lines of international chains, these doughnuts offer more than just the basic chocolate coated variety.
The elaborate choice, 47 to be precise, is a refreshing change. Says Gautham C B, Manager, Marketing, Global Franchise Architects India (P) Ltd that runs Donut Baker, “We wanted to put out variety on the shelves and allow our customers to choose from it. Initially, this kind of choice left them confused but then we have trained staff who can explain what goes in the doughnuts. This makes it easier for people and involves them in the choice as well. So we have had them and a lot others coming back.”
Beyond the basic
Apart from the honey dipped donut, the most basic flavour, the jam filled donuts — strawberry, blueberry, orange and Bavarian — is a good choice along with the chocolate cream donut for those who swear by chocolate.
“We have taken care to keep the level of sweetness down in most of our donuts. But for children who are inclined to more sweet tasting delicacies, we have the a good number of doughnuts for them too,” says Gautham.
More than donuts
Dobites is yet another interesting snack to try at this place. A miniature doughnut, these are coated with flavours such as chocolate, strawberry, lemon, coconut, among others. Unlike most other places that serves doughnuts, Donut Baker has scored above the others with their pricing as well.
“It costs between Rs nine and Rs 49 for single doughnuts apart from combos that are priced between Rs 49 and Rs 119 and takeaways — Rs 99 to Rs 144. And we make sure we refill the counters every four to five hours to ensure quality,” says Gautham.
Team these up with coffee, that’s also served at the place, and it makes for a great snack before you hit the road again.
