The High Court on Friday refused bail to a man accused of aiding stamp paper scam kingpin Abdul Kareem Lala Telgi, in operating his fake stamp business from the Central prison.
Justice H V G Ramesh rejected the bail petition filed by Abdul Khuddus of Vittalpet, Kolhapur district, Maharashtra who is facing trial on various charges of Indian Penal Code, Karnataka Stamp Act and KCOC Act.
The petitioner had sought bail on the ground of ill-health while stating that he was in judicial custody for five years since his arrest in October 2002 and the trial was not completed yet. The Court observed that his health condition was not so serious to grant bail and that he was being given medical attention by the authorities.
