Kannada number week
The Kannada Abhivruddhi Pradhikara on Sunday inaugurated the ‘Kannada Number Week’ and set a target to write Kannada numbers on registration numberplates of 6,000 vehicles in one week. Arya Prasad, convener, said the government has made a rule for all the government vehicles to use Kannada numericals. The Pradhikara demanded that the government and natives of Karnataka use only Kannada numericals. Dr Siddalingaiah, Hemalatha Mahishi and Prof Chi Srinivas Raju were also present on the occasion.
Stir against meddling in Nepal politics
Members of Nepalese People’s Right Protection Committee (NRPC) on Sunday staged a protest against foreign intervention in that country’s politics. They took out a rally from Town Hall to Banappa Park. The Committee demanded an end to monarchy and constituent assembly elections in Nepal.
“We demand that the interim legislature unit in Nepal immediately implement the resolution on full proportional mode of election and federal republic,” saidNRPC Central Committee President TB Pathak. Many nations are trying to influence Nepalese politics and the entire democratic forces must unite against external intervention in the country’s politics, protesters said.
New hospital at Nandini Layout
Raksha Multispeciality Hospital was inaugurated in Krishnandnagar, Nandini Layout on Sunday. Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, former deputy chief minister Siddaramiah and MLA of Rajajinagar constituency N L Narendra Babu, were present.
Dr Ravikumar, the hospital founder, said, “Raksha will meet the needs of the poor at an affordable cost.”
