Women have played a key role in the economic and social development of the district, as a result of which arrack is also been banned in the state, said District Co-operative Union President Byalahalli M Govinda Gowda.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 54th All India Cooperative Week organised jointly by State Cooperative Federation, District Cooperative Union, Deepa Women’s Association at Budikote in Bangarpet on Sunday.
Appreciating the commitment of women in repaying loans, he said that the women’s contribution in the field of Diary farming and Sericulture is commendable. Women have been successful in all fields including Politics which was once only dominated by men. But the worst is that, their husbands are poking their nose in the affairs of Panchayats, which is not fair, he commented. At the same time, he called upon women to be literate. Director of District Cooperative Union of Kolar Shanthamma also spoke.
President of Budikote Agriculture Service Cooperative Association Bank Shamanna, Gram Panchayat President Venkateshappa, Vice President Manjulamma, member of Gram Panchayat Chakravarthi, leaders Markandegowda, President of Deepa Women’s Association V Bharathi, District Cooperative Union Chief Executive Officer K Mallaiah and others were also present.
