HAL Workers Put Off Hunger Strike
Bangalore, Nov. 18.
The hunger-strike of the HAL employees, scheduled to commence today, is postponed to November 23, on the advice of the workers representatives carrying on talks with the Union Government at Delhi.
A telegram and a trunk telephone received from Delhi said the talks were “progressing” and discussion was “favourable.”
Cloth May Cost Less Next Year
New Delhi, Nov. 18.
The consumer in many parts of the country will pay substantially less for his cloth, sugar and tobacco from next year as a result of the reported decision of the conference of State Finance Ministers here today to replace sales tax on these commodities by an additional Union excise duty.

Longowal Directs MPs To Resign
Amritsar, Nov. 18.
In a surprise move, the Akali Dal today directed its 37 Punjab Vidhan Sabha and four Parliament members to resign their seats.
The move which was described as a new party strategy for achievement of their demands, was announced by Party President Sant Harchand Singh Longowal, at a press conference here this morning.
