Theatre workshop
Rainbow.inc presents “I want to be me”, an interactive drama therapy workshop facilitated by Manhoor Yar Khan from December 13-15 between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm at Ashirwad 30, St.Marks road cross. ‘I want to be me’ is an interactive workshop that puts participants through a series of drama techniques through which the participants can address concerns be it the socail,cultural, personal or political. The important aspect of this workshop is getting the group to accept each one for what they are and not imposing what they feel is right or wrong. Book launch
Banagalore’s music afficionados and bookies are for a doule treat. Paul Fernandes and Peter Colaco, the City’s lovable personae will have their latest book launched by Janapitha Awardee and eminent dramatist Shri Girish Karnat on November 21 at The Park. The book tittled ‘On a high note’ features Fernandes’ curious musical illustrations and Colaco’s unusual text on music and musicians with due respect to the great musicians of all times. The book is digestable for common man also. Nina D’Silva, the well known pianist from Germani, will present music of the great masters on the occasion. Two musical interludes will be followed by the reception to meet the authers and pianist.
Training programme
Department of Horticulture, bio-technology centre has proposed to organise a two-day training programme in production technology (mushrooms) on November 19 and 20 and a programme in organic cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants on November 23 and 24, at the Bio-technology Centre, Hulimavu, Bannerghatta Road. Wildlife adventure
From November 30 to December 2, Gerry Martin is taking a small group of people over to the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust (MCBT)- the place he started his herpetological career and also where some of his fondest wild memories are based. He is going to introduce you to his friends who continue to work there every day, studying and protecting these enigmatic creatures. MCBT has over three thousand crocodiles in its care - from tiny hatchlings to Jaws III - the largest crocodile at the park, measuring in excess of 16 feet. Here, the group will get a chance to get their hands dirty, working with the team at MCBT, cleaning enclosures, catching, counting and measuring the crocs and doing everything that is needed for two whole days at the Croc Bank. You also get a chance to go herping in the nearby fields and plantations and find a bunch of small snakes and other reptiles. Evenings will be spent in presentations, very interesting conversations and maybe some night time swims in the Bay of Bengal just outside. Contact Kaushik on 9886169698.
