Candidates find quantitative section difficult
A tough CAT to crack!
Bangalore, DHNS:

Most of the candidates who appeared for CAT-2007, found quantitative ability section difficult. And, majority of them felt Data Interpretation was easy and Verbal Ability as manageable. However, candidates felt that the duration - two and half hours - to solve the paper was inadequate.

Majority of them said that they wanted to do their MBA course only in IIMs, a few students expressed willingness to study in other top management institutions in various parts of the country if they failed to make it to IIMs. When Deccan Herald spoke to few students, this is what they said...

“Verbal ability and DI was very easy but questions appearing under Quantitative ability was based more on reasoning. Overall, the paper was manageable and time was sufficient,” said Gopinath J V, an engineering student from BMS College, who appeared for CAT for the first time.

Further, he added that he was confident that he would make it to IIMs.

However, he said in case he failed to get admissions in IIMs, he would then try for other top B-schools in the country. Echoing similar views, Usha A, a student from RV College of Engineering said that she was very careful while marking the answers as negative marks would be awarded for every wrong answer. “Each question carries 4 marks and 1 mark would be deducted for every wrong answer. Hence, I didn’t want to take any chances and answered those questions, which I was confident. But I felt time was not sufficient to attempt all the questions,” she said. Usha added that she is keen on getting admission in IIMs and in case she failed to get admissions in IIMs, then she will appear for the CAT next year but won’t apply for any other B-schools.
