Convict escapes from jail
Bijapur, DHNS:  Maregeppa Sindagi, an inmate of Bijapur Central Jail, serving a life sentence, escaped from jail on Saturday. Sindagi, who was from Siddapur village of Bijapur taluk, was arrested in 2001 on murder charges and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2003. 

Ganja seized
Sakleshpur, DHNS:   Ganja plants worth Rs 20 lakh was seized and destroyed by police at Aramane Betta in Sakleshpur taluk, on Sunday. Two persons - Ganesh, a local and Paul, from Kerala were arrested.

B’lore youth drowns
Mysore, DHNS:  A man from Bangalore drowned in Balamuri, near here, on Saturday. The man K V Giri (30) was son of Venkatesh Naidu of Chitradurga. Giri was on a excursion along with his friends.
He drowned while swimming in the river Cauvery.
