The State Forest Department on Monday seized statues of sandalwood and teakwood from Natesan’s Antiqarts on MG Road.
“We got the handicraft showroom opened in the presence of its deputy sales manager P D Hegde on Monday morning and seized two statues, of Goddess Lakshmi, in sandalwood, weighing seven kg and another 2.5 cubic-metre-tall statue, in teakwood, both worth Rs 4 lakh,” said B Jayaram, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Bangalore South sub-division.
He said they have allowed the showroom to function. The department has not been able to get in touch with the accused - Dinesh Natesan, his wife Usha, son Shankar and daughter-in-law Rashmi.
