MAESTRO BLAMES TV CHANNELS FOR CULTURAL AGGRESSION
India losing identity, regrets Ustad Amjad Ali Khan
DH News Service, Mangalore:
"After 60 years of Independence, we are certainly talking of all the developments and achievements that we have witnessed but none of us are speaking of all that we have lost in these 60 years," said renowned Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.

Addressing a news conference here on Monday, Mr Khan said that India has lost its identity and is further losing it in wake of the cultural aggression that is going on across the country, courtesy the umpteen number of television channels which have been airing only things that are not necessary for youth.

“Television channels have not been responsible enough to air anything that would contribute to our tradition and culture,” he opined and said that film libraries in India have some of the wonderful documentaries on legendary personalities that the young generation must know about.

“These documentaries can be aired atleast once a week but no channel is interested to do so,” he added calling for censorship on contents of channels. He said that India is looked upon by countries across the world. Keeping this aspect intact is important. The maestro was in Mangalore after a splendid performance at Town Hall on Sunday.

He said that the appreciative and motivative audience helped him perform better and expressed his wish to be back in Mangalore for another performance with his sons Aman and Ayan in future.
Sangeeth Bharathi President Ustad Rafique Khan and Narendra L Nayak were present.
