30 students from State for National Science Convention
Mysore girl is Young Scientist

This year Madalambika of VII standard from Government Higher Primary School, Dasanur, Mysore, bagged the title Yuva Vijnani (young scientist) for her model and paper on Artificial nests for birds.


 Anxiety and curiosity was clearly evident on every student and their teachers’ faces as they all awaited to hear the name of the ‘Yuva Vijnani’ (young scientist) who would walk away with the title and the prizes this year.

Though undivided Dakshina Kannada had upper hand in this section for over three years, this year Madalambika of VII standard from Government Higher Primary School, Dasanur, Mysore, bagged the title for her model and paper on ‘Artificial nests for birds’.

Madalambika was presented a memento, cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a certificate. Her guide Mamatha H S was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 and her school was given science books worth Rs 4,000.
Addressing the reporters, Madalambika said that her study was based on her survey and observation of several birds for over seven months.

Her happiness knew no limits as she said that she had never expected that the title would come her way. Mamatha H S said that Madalambika hails from an agricultural background and this award will help the ‘young scientist’ bloom in future.

  30 students selected

A total of 30 students have been selected from various parts of the State at the convention who will represent the State at the national-level science convention to be held in Pune from December 27 to 30.

Spurthi Shettar from Basel Mission Hubli stood first in the Urban (senior) section followed by Mrunalini and Veena Naik from VVHS Sedum and Bagalkote respectively, Rashmi from Manipal PU College Udupi, Koushal from K N R H S and Vihar Joshi from SHS Puttur, Sheik Khadeer from D S H Bangalore, Swati P Maik from AMHS Sirsi and Tejaswi from CCH Mandya.

In the Urban (junior) section Anjali Tapadiya from V V Vihar Sedam bagged first place, followed by Rakshith D from T A Pai English Medium High School Udupi, Roopashree from Prarthana School Bangalore, Amoolya J Rai from Ramakrishna High School Puttur, Subramanya from Kahila Samaj Kolar and Sanjeeva Sattemmanavar from H P S Hubli-Dharwad.

In the Rural (senior) section, Apoorva Nandan from Government Junior College Kenkere Tumkur stood first followed by Sumera B from G H S Nadasamudra, Disha V from Indraprastha Vidyalaya Uppinangady, Nitish K from Manik Public School Bidar, Pratviraj V From Sri Rajarajeshwari High School Bidar, Shruti P Patil from G H S Belgaum, Nagaraj B H from Government PU College Davangere, Prajna P from Government Composite High School Bisgod and Anita from MNDSM Mudrangady.

In Rural (junior) section, Madalambika from Government Higher Primary School Dasanur Mysore bagged first place. Vasanth Kumar K from GHPS Tumkur stood second followed by Dileep C from Indraprastha Vidyalaya Uppinangady, Shruti S from S R High School Madhugiri, Prasanna hegde from H P S Madankeri and Hanok Endigeri from The Forbes Academy Chikkodi.
