Five hundred people with HIV have been identified in the city limits and they would be treated free of cost for a period of 6 weeks, Taluk Health Officer Dr Narasimha Murthy said.
Inaugurating the ICTC programme Mr Murthy said that about 40 people with HIV will be treated every day under the programme. Counselling will be extended to the family members of the HIV affected in order to dispel the myths about the disease.
