Global warming, resulting in erratic rain pattern, has become a major cause of concern today, said Dr Nagabhushan.
He was delivering a lecture on “Global warming and climatic changes”, jointly organised by CPR Environment Education Centre, Science Centre and Siddhartha First Grade College.
Describing global warming as the worst tragedy created by man in this century, Mr Nagabhushan said that unfortunately, the issue has been ignored over the years. The need of the hour is to take suitable measures to maintain ecological balance, he added.
Inaugurating the programme, Prof. C N Narasimhamurthy, Administrative Officer, Siddhartha Collage said it is every citizen’s responsibility to protect the environment.
Retd. Education Officer Prof B C Narasingappa called upon the youth to take firm resolution to protect the environment.
Environmental Education Planning Officer S Ravishankar highlighted the significance of environmental education. He said that without educating the future generations about the dangers it faced, there was no way we can save the planet and allow life to continure as we know it. He opined the people need to address the problem in individual capacities as well to help create awareness.
Presiding over the function Dr Y M Reddy said every individual must contribute towards keeping the environment clean and pollution free. Prof H N Vijayendra of Siddhartha College was the chief guest.
