The BJP, which was hoping to rule the State for 19 months, is preparing mentally for the mid-term poll. As soon as the BJP learnt that the JD(S) has issued whip to vote against Yeddyurappa government, legislators started holding talks among themselves on their future.
While, a few were agitated by the JD(S) move, many felt that the JD(S) has provided a better chance for the BJP to gain people’s sympathy. Former minister R Ashok said the BJP had anticipated the JD(S) move few days ago. “We had clues that the JD(S) will ditch us. We tried to settle the issues. But, finally it failed. We are happy to go before the people,” he said.
Think positive
Chikmagalur MLA C T Ravi said he and his party colleagues are confident of coming back to power with a complete majority. “I always think positively. I am sure the JD(S) act of betrayal will prove beneficial for the BJP in the elections,” he said.
Honnali MLA M P Renukacharya said he was confident that the JD(S) will support. In a chat with a few Congress MLAs, he said “Wait till the evening. Talks are still on. The JD(S) will withdraw its whip and give oral instruction to vote in favour of the motion.” However, his dream was shattered by the evening.
