Several legislators on Monday urged Speaker Krishna not to accept the resignation of JD(S) MLA and former Chief Minister J H Patel’s son Mahima Patel.
The legislators’ appeal came in the wake of announcement by the Speaker, during the special session, that he has accepted the resignation of Mr Patel.
The first time legislator representing the Chennagiri constituency, who has now launched a new political party had sent his resignation to the Speaker on November 16.
Describing Mr Patel as a principled politician, Senior Leader P G R Sindhia urged the Speaker to advice him against resigning his membership.
“Mahima has the qualities of an able leader and his resignation is a big loss to the House”, he added.
Senior Congress Leader Ramesh Kumar felt that as Mr Patel has taken an “emotional step”, it’s better if some elders advice him.
