Yeddyurappa was sworn in as the Chief Minister on November 12, and he resigned on Monday after the JD(S) withdrew support. The previous shortest stint had been that of Kadidal Manjappa who had been the Chief Minister of erstwhile Mysore State between August 19, 1956 to October 31,1956 (73 days). The first BJP government at the Centre, headed by Vajpayee, had lasted 13 days.
