This was announced by E&Y at a function held in New Delhi on Tuesday. Nine other successful entrepreneurs also received E&Y awards across various categories. Mr Raju will now represent India at E&Y World Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Monte Carlo, Monaco in May 2008.

E&Y this year announced to new award categories namely Social Entrepreneurship & Infrastructure & Construction to recognise those individuals who are making a contribution towards these very vital sectors of the economy.

Other awardees

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred upon Mahindra & Mahindra Group patriarch Keshub Mahindra. Self Employed Women’s Association Founder & General Secretary Ela Ramesh Bhatt, was conferred with the Social Entrepreneurship Award.

Entrepreneur of the Year Infrastructure & Construction Award was presented to Punj Llyod Ltd Chairman & Managing Director Atul Punj. JSW Steel Ltd Chairman & Managing Director Sajjan Jindal was winner in Manufacturing Category. Start-Up Entrepreneur of the year was given to Acme Tele Power Founder & Managing Director Manoj Kumar Upadhyay.

Services Category Award was bestowed upon HCL Enterprises Ltd Chairman & Chief Strategy Officer Shiv Nadar and Network 18 Managing Director Raghav Bahl was named Business Transformation Entrepreneur of the year.
Manager Entrepreneur Of The Year Award was given to ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Managing Director & CEO Shikha Sharma. Health Care & Life Sciences Award was conferred on Serum Institute of India Ltd Chairman & Managing Director Cyrus Poonawalla.
