Politicians taking us for a ride
DH News Service, Bangalore:
"Its bad," "Its a shameful act," "Politicians have taken voters for a ride..." were common opinion of a majority of the people, particularly the youth, on political developments in the State.

However, some lauded JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy for denying the BJP an opportunity to rule the State. Here are some reactions.

I have lost faith in all political parties. After watching the last two to three days’ developments, I feel giving attention to politics is a waste of time. BJP committed a mistake by agreeing to form government with JD(S) even after being ditched once. JD(S) committed a blunder by cheating BJP for the second time.

B L Abhinanda,
office coordinator in a private firm

This isn’t people-oriented politics, but power-centred politics. Deve Gowda and his family think only they can rule the State.

Shwetha, software engineer, Wipro

Political parties, for their selfish gain, are forcing  people to face one more poll. On the other hand, continuing uncertainty forces investors to go out of the State.

 P Shivakumar, officer, SBM

One should stick to promise no matter whatever happens. JD(S) enjoyed power for 20 months with the help of BJP. Similarly, it should have allowed BJP to rule for 19 months. Deve Gowda must be held responsible for all these developments.

D R Nagaraj, constable

JD(S) and BJP have projected themselves as friends-turned foes. I feel we’re not electing people we actually need. We need some fresh faces.

Shwetha S, BBM student

The government collapse forces another election on people of the State. It’s an economic burden but considering the BJP rules with a hidden agenda, it is good it has been denied chance to rule. BJP should have allowed Kumaraswamy to continue.

Ruhulla, merchant

BJP leaders were already prepared for elections. JD(S) approached BJP to form government and promised to extend support. But JD(S) ditched BJP. These developments have tarnished the image of the State in the national arena.

Bhuvaneshwari Parameshwaran, employee, SBM

It’s good JD(S) didn’t allow a BJP chief minister to rule the State. If BJP comes to power, it’ll disturb harmony between Hindus and Muslims. I would have supported BJP-JD(S) coalition had Kumaraswamy been allowed to continue as chief minister.

   Azra, cloth merchant

I condemn the JD(S) for betraying the BJP. Yeddyurappa should have been given a chance to rule. I hope  people have learnt a lesson and give a clear mandate to one party in the next poll.

Joseph Britto, software engineer, Times Technologies

I feel the BJP should have been allowed to rule the State at least for a year. Being citizens of the State, we have to bear the burden of one more election 19 months in advance.

Shajuddin, manager, a construction company
