Targetting newer geographies and to meet customers’ needs, Cisco, on Wednesday, also announced a strategic alliance with Wipro to jointly develop and deliver IT service solutions.
The pact, which targets growing markets like India, Middle East and Africa, will combine Cisco’s networking solutions with Wipro’s infrastructure and managed services portfolio. Briefing reporters, Cisco CEO John Chambers said, “a solutions lab would be soon started in the Wipro campus to develop and showcase Cisco’s new services and solutions.” It plans to invest $1 billion on this initiative in the coming three years.
The company also announced Cisco I-Prize competition using Cisco’s collaboration technologies to generate innovative ideas. Open to all entrepreneurs and teams — worldwide, this strategy will give Cisco an opportunity to invest in next emerging technology. Depending on the value of idea, Cisco may invest up to $10 million over three years to fund the new business.
