Tumkur celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava

Deputy District Commissioner S R Umashankar has said that Rajyostava celebrations should not remain as a token service to the state but needs to go beyond it.

He was speaking on the occasion of Kannada Rajyostava celebrations that was organised at the Mahatma Gandhi  sports ground on Thursday after hoisting the flag. The  programme was  jointly organised  by the District administration and the Kannada Rajyostava  Samithi. “ Kannada Rajyostava  should be  a unifying  force for all the  Kannadigas around the  wolr d who  have  spread our  culture there” he added.

He also called upon the  youth to develop an aptitude for Kannada literature and added that it was necessary for the language to gain the popularity that it  deserved in its home land. “For Kannada to become the most popular language, parents have to  inculcate a sense of pride among their  children  about their mother tongue.” said the official.

“The district is  rich in terms of  culture  folk  art and  literature. We have to form more  programmes to encourage these arts. The  district  administration has started planning various  utsavas to  highlight these  arts”  he said.
“As the  heirs to some of the most  brave men and women of our country  we need to  go forward with our convictions.” called the  official to all

Film festival
A children  film festival has  also been  organised for the  tiny tots  from November 1 to the 14th. The entry will be  absolutely free of  cost  and school children have been called upon to make use of this facility.

Member of parliment Mallikarjunaiaha, Legislator K N  Rajanna, TUDA president Sultan, Zilla Panchayat CEO Manoj Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police, Harishekaran and others were  present on the  occasion.

Tableaus flagged off
Deputy District Commissioner  S R Umashankar flagged of a procession of  tableaux in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha. The procession went through Ashoka Road, Town Hall road, B  H  Road and then reached the Mahatma Gandhi sports ground . The tableaux depicted the  rich  culture of our  state and included Veeragase, Nandi Dwaja, Somana kunitha, kolata,tamate and other  forms of  folk art.

Snap shots
The procession included  snapshots of Karnataka and its history through the  ages. Various  groups participated in the procession artists wore costumes of various  famous  people through time. Continents of POlice ,  NCC, Scouts & Guides, NSS, home guards and schools and  college  students  participated in the programme.
