An excise department official was  assaulted when  he went to arrest a person  in connection with illegal transport of  liquor. His  car was  also damaged during the tussle. The  incident occurred in Shettygenahalli taluk.

The Ramanagar Excise officials were conducting and inspection near Mudigerehalli on Tuesday when they found  20 cases of liquor being  transported  illegally in a Maruthi van. When  they  question the  driver about it, it was revealed that the liquor belonged to one Srinivas  from Shettygenahalli  taluk.

However when the officials  reached Shettygenahalli on Wednesday morning to arrest the accused, they  found themselves  being  assaulted by the  family of Seena.

Their cars were also  damaged in the  tussle.

Ramanagar Excise sub inspector Nagaraj  lodged a complaint in the Kunigal police station. The police department is conducting  further  enquiry in the matter.
