Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated with all pomp and grandeur in the district. Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraju hoisted the flag at Ajjarakadu Mahatma Gandhi Stadium as a part of Rajyotsava celebration and said that Kannada is a rich language with rich cultural heritage, which needs to be kept intact.

He said that the very fact that the State has produced seven Jnanapeetha awardees, itself is the testimony for the greatness of the state.

Mr Ponnuraj said that the major issue threatening the State is the border dispute. However, the state Government has urged for the implementation of Mahajan Committee report, which might resolve the burning border disputes. He informed about the various initiatives taken up by the government for the all round development of the district and measures taken for the disposal of the solid wastes and making the district pollution free.

A wonderful cultural programme was held after the celebration in which various organisations and schools took active part to showcase their talent.
