“Introspection of the direction in which the journey of the State has been over last 50 years is a must,” said Deputy Commissioner K R Niranjan on Thursday at the Rajyotsava celebrations held at the Fort premises.
He said that on the day of Rajyotsava one must recall the developments that the State witnessed and must make a sincere thought on the developments that the state can witness in future.
“The programmes introduced by the government must be implemented effectively. Education for all, health care for all and dignified living for all must be ensured,” he added.
He said that Karnataka can boast of seven Jnanapeet awardees, it has produced some of the renowned entrepreneurs who propagated the intellectual base Karnataka across the world, it has given to the country some of the brave soldiers like Field Marshal K M Kariappa, General Thimaiah and opined that many such great people will be produced in this great land in future too to keep the Karnataka flag high.

K P Narasimha Shet (social worker), Sridhar Huvalli (journalism), Ammanni (dance), Rajesh and Ruksana (sports), T R Papaiah (Police department), M J Someshkar (Construction) were awarded with the Rajyothsava awards.
Deputy Director of Women and Child Welfare Department Sheharbhanu, Joint Director of Agriculture department K R Krishnaiah, Information Director Vinodchadra, T A Ramakrishna of the District Hospital, Somwarpete Child Development Officer M Nagesh Shet, senior typist at DC’s office P Janardhan Nayak, Sowarpete Junior Engineer Ramachandrappa were awarded with Nagarika Seva Prashashti. The cultural programme which was to be held at Kaveri Kala Kshethra at 5.30 pm was cancelled due to the rampage that took place in the morning the celebration.
