Damaging dais a shame on civic sense: DC
Madikeri, DHNS:

“The act of damaging dais and tableaus even before flag hoisting on Kannada Rajyotsava is a shame on our civic sense,” stated Deputy Commissioner K R Niranjan.

Speaking to press persons after taking part in Rajyotsava celebrations that held under tight police security at the Fort premises here on Thursday, he said if there are any problems and differences of opinion, let them solve through mutual discussions, but targeting the innocent children and threatening them is not a welcome move.

There is district administration, State government and law courts to solve problems like jama bane land or ownership of trees. Solution to these problems are possible only through peaceful and harmonious methods but not through other ways, he propagated.

The people of Kodagu are peace lovers. They are the persons who established a model for maintaining law and order. Such values should be retained forever, he appealed.

Asked about the warning of the protesters of launching a non-cooperation movement, Mr Niranjan said if the problem could be solved at district-level, he was ready for a discussion. “The MLA is one of the members in the committee constituted by the State government to look into jama bane land issue. Let them find out a solution at the committee level,” he suggested.

He said he will examine the possibilities of taking action against those who went on the rampage earlier to the function.

When asked whether the incident was a result of failure of the police, he said as the incident was a sentimental issue, they did not cross the ‘Lakshmanrekha’. Discipline is important in public life. It is not correct to use police force on all occasions, the DC said.
