“The farmers need not worry about the loses that they have incurred this year owing to the heavy rains. District administration is with them,” said Deputy Commissioner Naveenraj Singh on Thursday at the Rajyotsava celebrations at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium.
He said that Rajyotsava is not a mere celebration but it is the day to remember, revere and imbibe the language, culture, art and rituals that the land has nurtured and rendered to the people of the land.
He said that after the formation of Karnataka state in 1956, the state has come a long way over 51 years through the rich contributions made by the poets, artists and the patriots from Karnataka.
Local MLAs, MP and many other people’s representatives remained absent for the significant celebration. Zilla Panchayat President Chandramma Manjunath. SP Vipul Kumar, Zilla Panchayat CEO Sunder Nayak and others were present.
The Rajyotsava celebration was rather dull on Thursday as the number of spectators who turned up at the venue were minimum as against the years before.
But the enthusiasm of the school children in spite of very few spectators remained the same. The school students used to turn up at the stadium everyday, about one week before the celebrations to practice their piece of programme to put up an outstanding show.
