India Asks For Early Meeting
United Nations, Nov. 1.
India has asked for an early meeting of the Security Council to hear her reply to the debate so far on Kashmir, it was learned here.
In reserving his remarks when the Council adjourned on Tuesday, it was the Indian delegate, Mr V K Krishna Menon’s intention to speak after a resolution had been tabled before the House.
Nations Asked To Avoid War
New Delhi, Nov. 1.
An Indian resolution calling on nations of the world to eschew war and to intensify their efforts for general disarmament was today unanimously accepted by the Humanitarian Law Commission of the International Red Cross Conference. Loud and prolonged cheers greeted the adoption of the resolution.

Central Rule May Be Extended
New Delhi, Nov. 1.
The Union Cabinet is understood to have today decided to get Article 356 of the Constitution amended to enhance the period for President’s rule in a State from the present one to three years.
It is proposed to get the amending Bill passed in Parliament’s current session which ends on
November 5.
The decision has been prompted mainly by the stalemate in the negotiations between the government and the Assam agitation leaders on the foreign nationals issue.
