TN CM opens Salem railway
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi inaugurated the new railway division with Salem as headquarters here on Thursday, reports UNI. 

The inauguration of the new division by carving out some regions from the existing Palakkad and Madurai Divisions was a major event in the annals of Tamil Nadu’s history.

The Salem division has a distance of around 850 kms, with 94 stations under its jurisdiction.

Dhoni to boost Jharkhand’s edn
Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni will create awareness about the importance of education in Jharkhand through a radio advertisement, reports IANS from Ranchi.

The state’s HRD Ministry roped in Dhoni to record a public service advertisement, which will be aired three times a day on local radio frequencies from next week.

In the advertisement, Dhoni says: “Children aged between six and 14 must be sent to school. By being educated they can earnglobal fame for Jharkhand.”

Ayurveda to heal sick elephant
Ayurveda treatment has become the last resort for a female elephant calf Bharati, which is struggling hard to survive from arthritis at the Kodanad Elephant Orphanage in Kerala, reports ANI. 

The Kerala forest department is trying out ancient treatments to save her. Bharati is now under the care of a traditional ayurvedic physician named Mohanan Vaidiyar. Vaidiyar is doing oil massages and putting hot medicated bags on Bharati’s body and limbs.
