Speaking to Deccan Herald, Anish said: “On Monday, the duo asked me to brief my tenant (Satyavathi) on income tax documents. In turn, they said they would come next evening.
“On Satyavathi's request, I went to Vasanth Nagar and waited for them. The duo turned up and pretended to be in a hurry. They started pressuring her to show all documents. They called someone and discussed Satyavathi's case and said, 'You are sure to get into problems; either pay fine or face consequences’.”
Satyavathi was in tears. Immediately, the duo made their offer, “Pay Rs 20,000 and we will solve the issue.”
“I was forced to interfere when Satyavathi was begging for forgiveness as she didn’t have money at that time. She had just Rs 4,000, but the duo were asking her to pay the entire sum,” said Anish.
“I called my student who works in the I-T department. The duo suspected my move and started playing a different tune. They said they would come back tomorrow.”
Anish said as soon as his student introduced himself, Sadananda took the bag and ran away. “Immediately, I removed the ignition key of his motorcycle and took both of them to police station.”
Santhosh, who holds an MBA degree from IGNOU, told the DCP they were hired by Nandakumar, an assistant director in the I-T department. They also gave him the officer’s cellphone number.
When Deccan Herald contacted Nandakumar, he just hung up, saying, “Contact our office.” Meanwhile, police sources suspect the I-T officials could be hand-in-glove with the two.
