A host of disabled children gathered at Cubbon Park on Wednesday to participate in a festival organised to mark the World Disabled Day.
Close to 450 children from various organisations exhibited their creative talent in the festival organised by the Department for the Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens in association with Jain Jagruthi Mahila Seva Samaj.
Children took part in drawing and painting competitions and also witnessed cultural programmes specially planned for them.
Adamya Chetana President Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, speaking on the occasion, stressed that physically challenged children are capable in doing many things and they should be encouraged.
Citing the examples of athlete Malati Holla and her ilks, the Director of Department for the Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens, M V Vedamurthy pointed out that physically challenged people should be a part of the main stream society and believe that they are second to none. He also promised all possible help from the department for the cause such people.
