Liberty and Society seminars
Centre for Civil Society is a non-profit free market based think-tank in New Delhi. The Centre invites applications for its Liberty and Society Seminars (LSS) in Chennai from December 13 to 16, 2007. The last date of applying for the seminar is November 26. The LSS provides exposure to young people (18-25 yrs) to vital social and economic issues, involves them in creating a new vision for India, and ultimately makes them more informed citizens.
The LSS challenges students to think about causes and solutions for major problems affecting India including poverty, illiteracy, poor governance, degrading environment. It uses a participatory method including lectures by experts, group discussions, documentaries and field research. Students not only get a new perspective but also develop their skills of communication and critical thinking.

Mock Corporationcompetition
The YMCA Bangalore is planning to organise a "Mock Corporation Competition" programme on November 30, 2007 for the 9th, 10th and 1st PUC students.

PG Diploma in Software Programming
Raman International Institute of Information Technology (RiiiT) has announced the admission for the second batch of the 12 month Post Graduate Diploma in Software Programming. RiiiT is supported by the department of IT and BT, Government of Karnataka and the course is certified by the University of Mysore. RiiiT proposes to admit 1000 students in the current batch. The course will commence on February 1, 2008.
The 12-month PG Diploma in Software Programming offered by RiiiT is divided into four tracks: Foundation Track, Technical Track, Project Track and Internship Track. The course will train the students exhaustively in technical, communication, problem solving, verbal, soft skills. Students of RiiiT will be given hands on training and industry exposure through project and internship.
Admission to the course would be based on an entrance test, which will be assessed by ‘MeritTrac’, an external industry based assessment agency. MeritTrac will be conducting periodic module level assessments through out the course, to evaluate skills and knowledge level of the students, which intends to scale up industry acceptability of the students.
The prospectus and application form for admission will be issued till December 10, 2007. Prospectus is available at all the branches of Syndicate Bank in Karnataka and can also be downloaded from www.riiit.com. The eligibility criterion for the course is a Pass in Graduation in Engineering or Science.
Entrance examination for PGDSP will be conducted at Bangalore, Chennai, Belgaum, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Davangere, Mangalore, Mysore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Ernakulam on December 23, 2007. The last date for receipt of filled in application form is December 13, 2007.
