An incident of 6 cattle dying after consuming poisonous substance occurred at Chikatoor near Kushalnagar on Wednesday. The incident occurred when the herd belonging to Ramegowda from Chikatoor entered the nearby farm belonging to Hariprasad for grazing.
The sources said that an expired bottle of ‘Vijetha’, a medicine used in sericulture was thrown out on the field. The medicine from the bottle had spread on the grass and the cattle accidently fed on the poisoned grass.
Two cattle died on the spot after consuming poisoned grass. Though veterinary doctor was called to save the remaining cattle, efforts went in vain.
A case has been registered at Kushalnagar police station. The local residents have demanded the police to hold an indepth enquiry into the suspicious death of the animals.
