Kala Utsav from Nov 23
Mangalore, DHNS: Sarojini Madhusudhan Kushe High School and College in Mangalore will be organising the 7th Saroj Madhu Kala Utsav on November 23, 24 and 25. Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Founder Managing Trustee of Sarojini Kushe Educational Trust Madhusudhan D Kushe said that the objective behind the three-day event is to focus on Indian culture and instill appreciation of Indian heritage and art forms. The main competitions at the Kala Utsav include Bharatnatyam, Eastern groups, Krishna Sara (enacting an episode from Mahabharatha involving Krishna), Group bhajans, Drawing, Rangoli, folk dance and Yakshagana.
Over 2,700 students from 100 schools of Udupi- Mangalore region are expected to take part in the festival, Mr Kushe said. Mrs and Mr Kushe will inaugurate the fest at 9.30 am on November 23.
Director of Sai Arts International and Chief co-ordinator of Nrithya Kala Parishad Sai Venkatesh will be the chief guest on the occasion, while Dakshina Kannada DDPI Chame Gowda will preside. The Saroj Madhu Kala Utsav was initiated in 2001 and involves schools from Udupi, Kasargod and Dakshina Kannada.
