Anu Nagappa and Susan Fernandes have launched their own label and store, Astara. A release states that Astara's in-store design reflects the freshness of a contemporary colour palette accented by the enduring beauty of old wood and time-tested colonial accessories. Entirely conceptualised by Susan Fernandes, white, ochre, brown and blue blend effortlessly to create an intimate and inviting space within.
Astara will follow in the tradition of the Anu Nagappa label. At a time when India is the fashion inspiration internationally, Astara artfully combines chic western wear with international design trends, using fabrics, embellishments and colours of the sub-continent. Strongly influenced by the Italian Designer Tiziano Picogna, the Astara line draws on his clean cuts and perfect fits that flatter the shape of the Indian woman. Astara will showcase a fashionable work wear, evening wear, special cuts for plus sizes, clean cuts and flattering daily wear as well as a limited men's wear collection.
The Winter '07clothing line that will launch Astara is retro-chic, recalling fashions of the 60's and 70's. Earthy hues of brown, blue and green predominate, while the new bright colours of 2008 - pink and purple - make interesting appearances. Animal prints for the more adventurous, dresses, peasant blouses and shirts for men will also distinguish the collection.
Astara accessories reflect the latest trends in the fashion capitals of the world. The Winter '07 collection of handbags is inspired by the NeoGothic look. Visigoth and Celtic Chic-embellished crosses combined with innovative fabric, leather and embroidery trimmings, makes these bags a must-have for the season.
Astara was launched last week and is located opp Ulsoor Lake, next to Foto Flash.
