Exhibition of children’s art

Cobalt, a forum for art and music, is organising an exhibition of paintings by children and also a rare programme titled Geetha-Chitra by an eminent artist BKS Varma on November 24 and 25 at Subhash Bhavan, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Banalore. While BKS Varma will inaugurate the programme, Muddu Mohan, Joint Commissioner, RR Nagar will be the chief guest. Cobalt has been in the venture of exploiting potentials of young children for a year and the programme is being conducted to mark the first year of inception of the organisation. A music programme by Lalitha Hedge and Savitha Yaji will add charm to the event.

Painting exhibition

Time and Space is presenting an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Dhiraj Choudhury from November 22 to 30 from 11 am to 7 pm at the Gallery premises located at 55 Lavelle Road.

Dhiraj Choudury was born in 1936. After a National Diploma in Art from Delhi Polytechnic, he studied in Government Arts College, Calcutta and the Darjeeling Government College. He has taught art since 1961. He has held over 95 solo exhibitions and has received 15 awards for his creative work including the National Award.
 He has published several articles and books and his works are in the collections of Victoria and Albert Museum, NGMA, Lalit Kala Akademi and several other public and private collections. He lives and works in Kolkota.

Music festival

MA Narasimhachar Music Foundation (MANMF) is organising its sixth annual music festival from November 23 to 25 at the Bangalore Gayana Samaj Hall. Padmashree Dr Kadri Gopalnath who has adapted western instrument Saxophone to carnatic classical music will be honoured with ‘Gana Varidhi’ at the function on November 25 at 5.30 pm.

Schedule of concerts for the festival: Praveen Godkhindi and MK Pranesh (flute jugalbandhi (Nov 23, 6 pm); Carnatic vocal by Madurai TN Sheshagopalan (Nov 24, 6 pm);  Saxophone by Kadri Gopalnath (Nov 25 at 6.30 pm).

MANMF has been promoting carnatic music by encouraging young musicians of Karnataka and honouring great musicians with a title ‘Gana Varidhi’ which carries a memento, shawl and a cash award of Rs 5000 every year.

Nadaranjani music festival

The seventh year Karthika Sangeethotsava music festival of Nadaranjani Sangeetha Sabha will be held from November 26 to December 26 at Dharini Mahila Sangh, Basaveswar Nagar, Bangalore.

This seven day festival will have personalities like Vidhyabhushana, Dr Jayanthi Kumaresh, S Soumya, Malladi Brothers, Praveen Godlchindi and OS Tyagarajan on stage.

The renowned Gamaka exponent Dr AV Prasanna, child prodigy Akash and many other talented youngsters will participate in the programme. As part of the event, Shatavadhani Dr R Ganesh will give lecture demonstration on ‘Cinema and classical music’ on December 2.

The programme will end with a Yakshagane, ‘Mohini-Bhasmasure’ by Yakshadegula troupe. For more details contact 23285429, 23231800.

Motor event

Mitsubushi Motors in association with Flying Finish Motorsports is organising a closed invitation Off-Road Event near Yelahanka on sunday the 25th November 2007, called "Pajero Heart in Mouth Xperience".  The event will display the off roading capabilities of Pajero and driving skills of the off road enthusiasts and participants.
