Creative gaming at VISTA
Madhura K Nagendra

IIM-Bangalore witnessed a bunch of smart management students and young corporate executives at its management fest VISTA 2007. Over 70 B-Schools including all the IIMs participated in the gala fest.

The marketing game, Baadshah comprised four rounds. The first round was a written quiz round where 90 participants (management students and corporates) took part. 20 contestants were short listed to the second round wherein the contenders were given a scenario, which they had to depict. The theme given to the participants was ‘no smoking’. The third and penultimate round was a sales pitch, where each of the five short listed participants were asked to make a sales pitch for a product. The final round was more like a debate where the two finalists were given a topic where one had to speak for the topic and the other had to speak against. Sanath Kumar emerged victorious in these rounds and took home a cash prize of Rs.50,000.

The event saw over 90 participants from both the academic and corporate field which included big names such as MDI, IIM-B, IIM-A, FMS, HP, MindTree consultancy, NMIMS, S.P Jain etc. Each round was challenging and grilled the contestants on both theoretical concepts and practical knowledge. Sanath Kumar, second year student from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDM-IMD) was adjuged the winner for 'Baadshah', a Marketing Challenge Contest. He emerged out as the Baadshah from 70 odd B-schools which included all IIMs. His other achievements include prizes in various district, state and national level business competitions in the field of debating and marketing. He was also judged as the 'Best Outgoing Student' in 2005 at Canara College, Mangalore.
