Karnataka lose  to Orissa

Karnataka went down 1-0 to Orissa in their first quarterfinal league tie of the National Junior (under-19) football tournament for the Dr B C Roy Trophy at Faridabad on Wednesday.

Tatum Das scored the winner for Orissa in the 34th minute. Karnataka will take on Bengal on November 23 and Assam two days later in their remaining quarterfinal league fixtures.

Two Indians in medal rounds

Jitender Kumar and Dilbag Singh assured India of two medals at the International Boxing Invitational Tournament here after advancing to the semifinals of their respective categories, reports PTI from Beijing.

While Jitender beat Kazakhstan’s Olzhas Sattibayev 25-14 in the 51kg category, Dilbag thrashed Philipines’ Larry Semillano 34-23 to advance to the last-eight stage of the 69kg division.
