These leaders are said to have held telephonic discussions with Mr Prakash. They are expected to hold further discussions with him on Thursday.
Meanwhile, some independent legislators like Jayaprakash Hegde, Vatal Nagaraj and Rajendran, met leader of the Opposition N Dharam Singh and urged him to explore the possibility of forming
a government.
They are said to have expressed their support to any such move.
No alliance
Speaking to Deccan Herald from Delhi, a senior Congress leader categorically stated that there is no question of forming an alliance with the JD(S) or any other group.
“There is a clear message from the high command that the party should get ready for elections. When the issue of dissolution of Karnataka Assembly is before both Houses of Parliament, where is the question of forming government?”, he asked, while expressing his displeasure at the effort by some state leaders to form an
alliance.
