KPCC President Mallikarjun Kharge has taken strong exception to the charge levelled by State BJP President Sadananda Gowda that Congress was also responsible for the downfall of seven-day old BJP-led government in the State.
Speaking to media persons at the party office on Wednesday, Mr Kharge said it was clear from the statements of both BJP and JD (S) leaders that the government fell because of differences over allotment of portfolios. “Both parties were interested in Mines and Geology and Urban Development portfolios. We had made it clear that as we lacked majority, we were not interested in forming government. Both parties have no moral right to criticise the Congress”, he asserted. He said the Congress would continue its 'Janandolana“ programme throughout Karnataka in the next fortnight against the ‘anti-people and anti-democratic’ stand of JD (S) and BJP.
Mr Kharge termed the recent political developments leading to the fall of the BJP-led coalition government of Yeddyurappa as ‘mockery of democracy’ and both the parties had no moral courage to face the people.
