Privatisation: Defence staff threaten agitation
Bangalore, DHNS:
The All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF) has warned that it would undertake a major agitation if the Central Government went ahead with its decision to privatise defence related activity in the country.

The participants at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Controllerate of Quality Assurance Laboratories (CQAL & R) Civilian Employees Union on Thursday has warned that a major nationwide agitation would be undertaken if it did not reverse on this decision to privatise defence related activity and continue to grant licences to firms in the private sector to manufacture sensitive defence equipment.

S N Pathak president of AIDE, said that the Federation was against privatisation of any defence related activities as it not only affected the functioning of the existing government owned defence industries but also was against the interest of national security.

The AIDEF also demanded the government and the Sixth Pay Commission to grant Interim Relief to the 32 lakh Central Government employees.

The other demands include revision of bonus payment ceiling from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,500, filling up the vacancies in defence establishments, withdrawal of the New Pension Scheme, grant of Risk Allowance to employees involved in highly hazardous and risky operations.

Former minister R Roshan Baig who spoke on the occasion said that the government should ensure that the Public Sector Companies should also be provided with the same facilities like the IT companies and MNCs.
“The government puts out a red card to welcome  IT companies and MNCs in the name of globalisation. But they ignore the PSUs which is the largest contributor to the nation’s development” he said.
