Doctor killed in accident
Bangalore, DHNS:
A 31-year-old doctor was killed in an accident on NH 4 near Peenya on Thursday morning.


The deceased Dr M L Govindraj, a physician at the Victoria Hospital, was on his way to the hospital when the accident occurred. A private bus coming to the City  rammed into his two-wheeler in front of the government school, Peenya.

3 held for robbery bid

The CCB team nabbed three persons at Cubbon Park on Wednesday, when they were hatching a plan to rob the commuters.

Wasimulla Khan (24) of Sarjapura, Raju alias Akbar (22) of LR Pura and Ajam (27) of Vinayakanagar were involved in many offences including robberies at HSR Layout and Madiwala. Police seized lethal weapons and a two-wheeler, ornaments and phones worth Rs 1.2 lakh.

Woman dies of burns

A 32-year-old woman, who had sustained 65 per cent burns died at Victoria Hospital on Thursday. Gowramma and her husband sustained burns when the house caught fire three days ago. However, their son managed to escape.

Sends family home, ends life

A married man, after seeing off his family at the bus stop, went home and committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at his Ravi Layout residence in Nandini Layout police station limits on Wednesday night. Vijay Shankar (28), a mason, accompanied his family to the bus stop and on his way home consumed alcohol. Later he took the extreme step. Neighbours alerted the police. The family hails from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.

Imposter's arrest:Duo had cheatedmore people

Many people have informed the High Ground Police that they have been cheated by two imposters, who were caught on Tuesday.

High Grounds inspector Lokeshwar told Deccan Herald on Thursday that after the news appeared in media, many people had called the station and explained how they were duped. Mr Udupa from Cook Town and another from Banashankari have formally lodged complaints.

Santosh Rajkumar and Sadananda, working for ICICI Bank insurance wing, were caught on Tuesday on charges of cheating PG accommodation owners, posing as IT planners.

Meanwhile, Santosh Rajkumar, one of the arrested, has provided proof that the duo were resorting to extortion at the behest of IT department Assistant Director Nandakumar and he had got them the 'identity card' and 'certificate'.
