Govt urged to release pending Rs 271 lakh

Kodagu District Swacchatha Andolan help unit has urged the Government to release the pending sum of Rs 271.09 lakh. Project resource officer D D Pemmaiah informed that the implementation of Sampoorna Swacchatha Andolan programmes has been going on effectively and release of pending amount will further help in the implementation of the process.


He informed that it has been requested that a sum of Rs 85.28 lakh pending from first phase and a sum of Rs 185.81 lakhs pending from second phase must be released.

The Sampoorna Swacchatha Andolan was started in the district in October 2005 with the aim of creating clean and hygienic district. The programme was started in Maragodu village on October 2, 2005. The target to providing toilets to 33,996 BPL families and 18,095 APL families, 96 Anganwadis, 260 community toilets in the 98 Gram Panchayat jurisdiction has been set.

The project is being undertaken under collaboration of State and Central Government and to fulfil the set target of four years, the sum of Rs 949 Lakh is required.

 A sum of Rs 618.37 Lakh will be provided by the Central Government, Rs 191.71 Lakh will come from the state government and Rs 138.92 lakh will be share to be borne by the beneficiaries, he said.

By September end, a sum of Rs 216.71 lakh was released by the state and central government. By October end about 9,796 BPL families and 5434 APL families have been provided with toilets in the 25 Gram Panchayat jurisdiction along with 91 schools and 184 Anganwadis.

The village that outdoes other villages in implementation of the project will be awarded Rashtrapathi Nirmal Gram Puraskar and accordingly a list of 10 Gram Panchayats have been made for this award this year.
