Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Party District President S P Chengappa said that the act is a protest jointly against the rule demanding ration cards for issue of LPG cylinders and the condition of Mangalore roads.
The rule that makes ration cards cumpulsory for issue of gas cylinders is a unique one in the whole country and is creating quite a lot of inconvenience to common people. Even senior citizens have to stand in long queues to get cylinders issued, Mr Chengappa said and accused that sheltered by this rule, the gas agencies are making undue profit by allotting the cylinders to fishing boats and star hotels. He urged the district administration to rethink on the matter.
Similarly, the condition of roads in and around Mangalore is so deplorable that one feels they don’t exist.
The bad condition of the roads lead to traffic jams as never before, Mr Chengappa said.
Corporation formation
Months have passed after the MCC elections are over, but the reservations for Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts have not yet been declared.
Since there are a number a problems pending to be addressed, the corporators should take charge as early as possible, Mr chengappa demanded.
Rail issue
A delegation led by Union Minister Oscar Fernandes consisting of MLAs and MPs of this region should meet Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and demand the starting of Mangalore- Bangalore train service at the earliest as well as construction of railway overbridges at Padil and Mahakalipadavu, he added.
Dissolve House
Samajwadi Party District President S P Chengappa, in a press meet here on Thursday demanded that the Legislative assembly should be dissolved at the earliest. “There is a clear state of anarchy in the state. The BJP-JDS will try to form the government again. The governor should see to it that this state doesn’t continue,” he said and added that fresh elections are the only way out.
