Dejected with the death of his wife, an employee of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) committed suicide by hanging at his Padmanabhanagar residence on Thursday afternoon.
Police said, Shivachandra Prakash, 32, was found hanging from the ceiling on Thursday afternoon at about 2.30 pm. On Wednesday his wife had died at a private hospital. It is suspected that she had died of Dengue or Chikungunya. Around one-and-half years ago he got married and when she died she was pregnant.
Shivachandra’s brother Kumar was the first to witness Shivachandra hanging. In the afternoon Kumar had gone to Shivachandra’s house. When Kumar could not get any response despite knocking on the door, he broke open the door with the help of neighbours. Shivachandra was working as a first division clerk with the RGUHS.
Shivachandra’s suicide sent a wave of shock and sorrow at the RGUHS where he worked. The RGUHS Registrar Dr Vasanth Kumar said, Shivachandra was a very good person and was soft-spoken.
