In order to reach the poor in the society, political interference in the field of cooperative sector should be avoided, said Tumkur Zilla Cooperative Society Assistant Manager M D Narasimhamurthy. He was speaking at the inauguration of the 54th Cooperative Week and Heart Check-up camp jointly organised by the VSSN

The cooperative sector can secure the confidence of the poor in the society by increasing the disbursement of small loans, he added.
Moreover, there is a need to extend the role of the cooperative sector in all the villages in the taluk. Securing the confidence of the women folk in the activities of the cooperative sector is of paramount importance. The programmes of the cooperative associations need a complete overhaul. Members should avail themselves of the various welfare programmes of the cooperative organisations, observed Mr Murthy.
Innovative thinking
Innovative thinking in the cooperative sector is the need of hour, said Mr Murthy. The facilities of the cooperative organisations should be made available to all. Moreover, the sector today is facing a lot of challenges and hence In order to face them, a new wave of thought in the field is needed, observed former legislator Venkataramanappa.
Recently, rural folk are being lured by group loans and savings .They should be careful and not fall into the trap of the middle men.Creating of awareness in this regard is very essential among the people, he added.
Yashaswini scheme
The Yashaswini card scheme need to reach the people and creating of awareness about the various cooperative measures is the need of the hour, he added.
