PIL filed against unauthorised hoardings in Bangalore
Bangalore, DHNS: The High Court on Thursday admitted a PIL seeking action against unauthorised hoardings and banners across Bangalore City.
The petition filed by B Krishna Bhat, a resident of Girinagar, said that many hoardings and banners were being put up in all parts of the City without taking requisite permission from BBMP.
These hoardings divert the attention of people riding or driving vehicles on busy roads and also deface the city’s beauty, the petition said.
The petition has sought directions to BBMP to check the problem and said representations in this regard had gone in vain.
It has also sought a direction to collect the escaped tax and penalty for putting up such hoardings from the people concerned, and cited the example of hoardings put up recently, during the birthday celebrations of MLA Zameer Ahmed.
The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri admitted the petition and ordered notices to Urban Development Secretary and the BBMP.
