Controversial Indian envoy to the US, Ronen Sen, whose “headless chicken” remark had caused an uproar in Parliament, was on Thursday let off by the Lok Sabha Privileges Committee with some critical comments against him. The committee said he should have been more discreet as a diplomat. The report, which was tabled on the floor of the house, said the committee was of the view that no breach of privilege or contempt of house was involved in the matter.
The committee, which had summoned Mr Sen last month after the remark rocked Parliament during the monsoon session, recommended that “keeping in view the unconditional apologies tendered by Sen... The matter may be treated as closed.” It also observed that “this matter could well serve as an advisory on what ought not to be done by a diplomat.”
