Here is the list of categories of buildings where the use of solar water heaters is compulsory: Industries where hot water is required for heating, hospitals and nursing homes, including government ones, hotels, motels, banquet halls, and guest houses, jail barracks, canteens, housing complexes set up by group housing societies/housing boards, all residential buildings built on areas measuring 600 sq ft or site area of 1200 sq ft and above falling within the limits of municipal committees/corporations and Bangalore Development Authority sectors, etc.
Apart from these, all government buildings, residential schools, colleges, hostels, technical/vocational education institutes, district institutes of education and training, tourism complexes and universities, community centres, kalyana mantaps etc, also come under this category.
